Yermak urges to stop Saakashvili’s illegal imprisonment
Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak urges to stop illegal imprisonment of former president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili.
"Stop Mikheil Saakashvili’s illegal imprisonment! Mikheil Saakashvili is a symbol of the struggle for truth, justice, and democracy," Yermak posted on Twitter.
He stated that capturing and holding Saakashvili behind bars is a violation of human rights.
As reported, on July 3, imprisoned ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili appeared at a session of the Tbilisi City Court via video link and demonstrated his condition.
Saakashvili has been behind bars in Georgia since he returned to the country in the autumn of 2021 after an eight-year absence.
Ukraine officially recognized Saakashvili as a victim of ill-treatment in prison.
