Bulgaria’s Deputy PM calls on EU, NATO to support Ukraine consistently
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Mariya Gabriel believes that the assistance of Ukraine's partners should not depend on the duration of the war with Russia, and calls on the EU and NATO countries to continue supporting Ukraine consistently.
"Democratic values, international law, moral principles should be at the center of all our efforts aimed at ensuring that Ukraine wins. Having these values, we must not allow the duration of war to rob us of compassion and deter us from giving aid. I am sending a call for solidarity and consolidation to our united European and Euro-Atlantic family: our position must be consistent, we must protect it from distortion – I say this in the context of present-day war," Gabriel said during the meeting of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky with representatives of Bulgarian political circles, the public, and media, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
She stressed that Bulgaria's consistent support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is determined not by considerations of the current moment, but by a "stable democratic moral compass."
"I believe that today, at this meeting, Bulgaria is sending this message to you, Mr. President," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky is visiting Bulgaria on July 6.
