Poland expects clear signal from NATO regarding support for Ukraine
Poland is making every effort to strengthen Ukraine in military terms, and the NATO Summit should give a clear signal regarding support for Kyiv.
The relevant statement was made by Polish National Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak at a meeting with general officers in Legionowo, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to Błaszczak, Poland’s objective is to have a border with not “part of Russia” but independent Ukraine.
“That is why we support Ukraine... We realize that any attempt to rebuild the empire is evil, as the residents of Irpin or Bucha, who had been killed by Russian mercenaries, felt for themselves,” the Polish minister stressed.
Błaszczak mentioned that Poland is doing “everything possible” to strengthen Ukraine and drive the aggressor away.
“We expect that NATO will expand – Sweden will join the Alliance – and NATO will give a clear signal regarding support for Ukraine,” Błaszczak stressed.
The minister expressed hope that, with Poland’s active participation, NATO’s policy of deterrence and defense would be even clearer.
A reminder that the NATO Summit will take place in Vilnius on July 11-12, 2023.
