Zelensky meets with JICA President paying visit to Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a meeting with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President Akihiko Tanaka, who arrived in Ukraine.
The relevant statement was made by the Office of the President of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion started, Ukraine has received more than USD 1.1 billion in financial assistance from the JICA.
According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Zelensky and Tanaka discussed JICA’s priority areas of activity in Ukraine. The Head of State emphasized the involvement of Japan in the production of demining equipment, development of a network of rehabilitation facilities for the military and veterans, as well as the production of power equipment.
Zelensky stressed the importance of implementing the infrastructure projects launched with the support of JICA, namely the modernization of the Kyiv-based Bortnychi aeration station.
Special attention was given to the prospects of attracting Japan’s technological potential to the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, namely in such areas as the production of power equipment, lithium batteries, hydrogen, and cars.
President Zelensky thanked JICA for its willingness to actively take part in preparations for Ukraine’s reconstruction conference, which is expected to take place in Tokyo in early 2024.
