MP Cherniev: Ukraine ready to consider proposals for Zelensky’s Peace Formula
Ukraine is ready to consider proposals for President Zelensky’s Peace Formula if the demand to restore sovereignty and territorial integrity is preserved.
"If countries have an alternative vision, of course, we are ready to hear and see it. But it certainly must not contradict, first of all, the restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. We will not trade our territories and agree to abandon territories or freeze the conflict," MP, head of the permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Yehor Cherniev told a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine-Ukrinform, commenting on the results of the summit in Saudi Arabia.
According to him, the points of President Zelensky's Peace Formula are a logical reaction to Russia's aggressive actions. If international partners have an alternative vision of how to settle this or that issue, our state is ready to examine them. "How else to solve the issue, for example, of the demilitarization of the ZNPP zone? They may offer. We advocate for radiation safety not only in Ukraine because radiation does not choose which country it spreads to. Energy, food security, forcing the Russian Federation to return to the grain agreement – let's develop levers of influence together. We are open to suggestions," the MP stressed.
In general, he positively assessed the results of the meeting in Jeddah. Representatives of more than 40 world countries took part in the summit.
"The main point is that control over the entire territory of Ukraine must be returned within the internationally recognized borders, that is, the territorial value must be renewed – this is the main point. Further, each of the countries can choose a direction on a bilateral basis. For example, food safety, energy, economic, radiation, etc. This is being worked on, negotiations are underway. There are no points of President Zelensky's Peace Formula that our partners do not accept or reject in principle. There are 10 points that are rational, logical, and based on the principles of international law," the parliamentarian added.
As reported, a second meeting at the level of national security advisers and political directors regarding the key principles of peace based on the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was held in Jeddah on August 5-6.
