Zelensky to propose that Parliament should equate corruption with high treason

President Volodymyr Zelensky promised to propose that the Parliament should equate corruption with high treason during the martial law regime.

"The legislator of Ukraine will be offered my proposals on equating corruption with treason in wartime," Zelensky told Natalia Mosiychuk in an interview, Ukrinform reports.

In his opinion, such an initiative will be a very serious tool so that no one even thinks about corrupt actions. At the same time, he added that "this is not a shooting, this is not Stalinism", and if there is evidence, a person should be behind bars.

The President said that the Verkhovna Rada could receive a draft of such a decision in the coming week.

As the Head of State emphasized, corruption or its risks are not only internal issues as they have an "echo" outside as well.

At the same time, he noted that he did not have much time to devote to the details of the fight against corruption, adding that he pays attention to fundamental solutions.

As reported, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention intends to launch a special portal in early September where whistleblowers will be able to anonymously report facts of corruption.
