Ukraine soon to receive EU assessment of reforms to launch accession talks - Stefanchuk
Ukraine will receive in the coming days a written assessment of the implementation of the recommendations issued by the European Commission, required to start negotiations on joining the European Union.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk said on the air of the national telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He stressed that the Ukrainian Parliament has fulfilled all the requirements issued by the European Commission in the context of European integration legislation.
"Now the ball on the pitch of the European Commission and the European Council. We are waiting for a written assessment in the coming days. After receiving the assessment, we will hold a series of negotiations. We very much hope that at the end of this year the European Council will make a decision on opening talks on Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union,” Stefanchuk emphasized.
He stressed that the fact of launching negotiations with the European Union this year will demonstrate that "Ukraine stands with the European Union and the European Union stands with Ukraine."
As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian side had fulfilled almost all the conditions for launching negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
