Zelensky, Stefanchuk urge Crimea Platform participants to monitor sanctions against Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on participants in the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform to monitor the implementation of sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation.
The relevant statement was made by the Head of State in his online speech at the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Now, our task is to maintain and increase pressure on the occupier. My appeal to you is simple – do not stop halfway. It is not easy to clean the Black Sea from the terrorist fleet, but it is much easier to clean the information environment from Russian propaganda, which continues attempts to distort the achievements of our cooperation and undermine the democratic order,” Zelensky said.
The President of Ukraine stressed the need to stop the spread of Russian propaganda across the globe.
“Just as we destroy the occupier’s logistics on the territory of our country, we must remove security and logistics for the circumvention of sanctions against Russia through any intermediaries – states, companies, or individuals. We have to work. I am calling on you to establish parliamentary control over the relevant sanctions regimes,” Zelensky noted.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk urged the Parliaments to take all appropriate legislative steps to implement sanctions against the Russian Federation and block all possible ways to avoid them.
“Sanctions are our collective response to the acts of aggression. This is a clear signal that we will steadfastly uphold the rule of law and international regulations,” Stefanchuk emphasized.
In his words, sanctions are weakening Russia’s military and economic potential, and its ability to continue the war.
Stefanchuk added that a lot had already been done by international partners in this area, and challenging decisions had been made for national economies by some of them. But, these decisions are important for the common future.
A reminder that the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform is taking place in Prague, the Czech Republic.
