Zelensky, Šimonytė discuss defense cooperation

During his official visit to the Republic of Lithuania, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine met with Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė.

That’s according to the President’s Office, Ukrinform reports.

Volodymyr Zelensky and Ingrida Šimonytė discussed defense cooperation between the two countries, as well as joint projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors, the report reads.

The Head of State thanked the Lithuanian government for comprehensive assistance to his country during the full-scale war unleashed by Russia, the President’s Office reports.

“The parties emphasized the importance of unblocking budgetary support for Ukraine from the European Union amounting to €50 billion over four years in the framework of the Ukraine Facility,” the press service wrote.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky arrived on an official visit to Lithuania on Wednesday, starting off his Baltic tour. He will also come to Latvia and Estonia.

On January 10, Zelensky met in Vilnius with his Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nauseda.
