Ukrainians fighting including for European security - Dutch top diplomat

The Ukrainians are fighting not only for their own freedom but also for European security.

That’s according to Hanke Bruins Slot, the Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, Ukrinform reports, referring to her posting on X.

“The Ukrainians are fighting for their freedom, but also for European security,” the minister wrote.

At the Foreign Affairs Council, the parties had a constructive meeting about “continued military and humanitarian support for Ukraine” as the nation defends itself against Russia’s aggression, she added.

“It is crucial that we stay the course,” the top diplomat stressed.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands said the first two of the 14 Leopard 2 A4 tanks pledged to be delivered to Ukraine, jointly purchased by Denmark and the Netherlands, have been overhauled by Germany’s Rheinmetall and are ready for shipment.

Initially, the tanks will be sent to Poland to ensure proper training for Ukrainian crews.

In the coming months, Rheinmetall will overhaul the remaining 12 tanks.
