UN confirms participation in Peace Summit

The United Nations Secretariat has confirmed that the UN will be represented at the June Peace Summit in Switzerland.

Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq announced this at a press briefing on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

Asked by Ukrinform to comment on attempts by Russia and its supporters to disrupt the summit, Haq said that the comment on this is as follows - the UN will participate in the summit and closer to the date of the event, the organization will inform who exactly will represent it.

As Ukrinform reported, Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said earlier that the UN would be represented at the Peace Summit, despite the enormous pressure from Russia on officials and UN member states.

The Global Peace Summit will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16. Representatives of more than 100 countries from all continents are expected to attend the event.
