Argentine President will not attend Peace Summit in Switzerland - media
Argentine President Javier Milei is unlikely to attend the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland on 15-16 June, as he wants to be in his country during national holidays.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by La Nacion.
President Javier Miley has decided to shorten his ten-day trip to Europe, which was to begin next Wednesday, "high-ranking sources" told the publication.
"The President [Milei] will not attend the Peace Summit on 15-16 of this month, which will be held in Switzerland and to which he was invited by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky," the report said.
As noted, Milei will travel to Europe on 12-15 June to attend a meeting of the Group of Seven leaders, return to Argentina, and then return to Europe on 22-24 June to participate in separate events.
"The change in plans is due to the fact that the president wants to be in Argentina for the national holidays on 17 and 20 June, so he will return (to Argentina) on the 15th and return to Europe on the 22nd to complete his tour," the statement said.
On 17 June, Argentina celebrates the National Day of Latin American Freedom, and on 20 June, Flag Day.
At the same time, Milei cancelled a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, which was scheduled for 19 June.
As Ukrinform reported, the Global Peace Summit will take place on 15-16 June in Switzerland. It is expected to be attended by heads of state and government from all continents, who will come together to discuss possible ways to implement the Ukrainian Peace Formula. So far, more than 100 countries and international organisations have confirmed their participation in the summit.
