FM of Ukraine on mood in Russia on eve of Peace Summit: They understand what is at stake
There is a hysterical atmosphere in Moscow about the upcoming Peace Summit, because the Russian myth of dividing the world into Europe and America and the rest of the world is at stake.
This was stated by Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with Ukrinform.
"We are satisfied with the hysterical atmosphere that prevails in Moscow because of the Peace Summit. We can see it in their actions and attempts to prevent the Summit from taking place. They understand that what is at stake is the Russian myth of dividing the world into Europe and America, which support Ukraine, and the rest of the world, which supports Russia," the Foreign Minister said.
He is convinced that Ukraine, together with its allies, will beat Russia, and that the majority of the world supports the UN Charter and international law.
"No one wants to live in a world where aggressors are allowed to attack their neighbours, commit atrocities and seize pieces of other people's territory. The Peace Summit will clearly record this, and thus strengthen Ukraine's position and take an important step towards restoring a just peace for our country," the Minister stressed.
Regarding China's participation in the Peace Summit, the Foreign Minister noted that Ukraine is in active dialogue with Beijing on the vision of ways to achieve peace and convinces it that the principle of territorial integrity is fundamental for both countries.
"We are convinced that the Peace Formula is the basis that makes it possible to move towards a just peace based on the principle of territorial integrity and respect for the UN Charter. Ukraine and China are currently engaged in an active dialogue on this topic. We have publicly responded to the Chinese position," Kuleba said.
He noted that the first political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and China in many years took place in Beijing this week, and China's participation in the Summit would be the right step to bring peace closer.
As Ukrinform reported, the Global Peace Summit will be held on 15-16 June in Switzerland. It is expected to be attended by heads of state and government from all continents, who will come together to discuss possible ways to implement the Ukrainian Peace Formula. So far, more than 100 countries and international organisations have confirmed their participation in the summit.
