Zelensky discusses environmental security with Palau president
The first high-level meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Palau Surangel Whipps, Jr. took place at the International Peace Summit in Switzerland.
President Zelensky said this in a post on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
“On the second day of the Global Peace Summit, President of Palau Surangel Whipps, Jr. and I discussed environmental security. This meeting marked the first high-level contact between our countries,” Zelensky wrote.
Zelensky said he briefed President Surangel Whipps, Jr. about the environmental threats provoked by the Russian occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and invited Palau to join the implementation of the Peace Formula point on environmental security.
“I thank Palau for its clear stance in support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The issues discussed at the Summit are important not only for Europe but also for the whole world,” Zelensky added.
On June 15, the first Peace Summit kicked off in the Swiss resort of Bürgenstock to discuss nuclear security, food safety and the humanitarian dimension - the exchange of prisoners and the return of abducted Ukrainian children.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Zelensky has already held meetings with leaders of some states, including the United States, Argentina, Georgia, and Chile.
