All Peace Summit participants supported Ukraine's territorial integrity - Zelensky
All participants in the Global Peace Summit have supported Ukraine's territorial integrity.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this at a press conference after the summit, Ukrinform reports.
"The communique that was adopted at the summit fully reflects our intentions and remains open for signature by every country that respects the UN Charter," Zelensky said.
He thanked all participants in the inaugural Global Peace Summit for taking the first steps towards peace together. He recalled that 101 states and international organizations had attended the summit.
"This is a great success for Ukraine and all partners, and our fair goal is for all countries to join us," Zelensky said.
He noted that all participants in the summit had supported the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
"Because there will be no lasting peace without territorial integrity," he added.
Zelensky recalled that three challenges had been analyzed in detail at the summit, including nuclear security, food security and the return of prisoners of war and deported persons, including thousands of children abducted by Russia.
"And now, after the summit, we proposed and agreed to continue our joint work at a more technical level, at the level of advisors and ministers in the format of special meetings under the leadership or co-leadership of individual countries," Zelensky said.
According to him, these groups will work in the same way as national security advisers to the leaders of the countries worked during preparations for the Peace Summit.
"We already have preliminary agreements with countries such as France, the Czech Republic, Turkiye, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Norway, Poland, Canada, Qatar, Chile, Ghana, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Kingdom to host the work of the groups, lead and co-lead them," Zelensky said.
He also invited all countries "that recognize the binding nature of the UN Charter as a basis for cooperation between nations to participate in the work of these groups."
"The first and second peace summits should consolidate our joint work on the details of peace. We are at war, and we have no time for long-term work. Moving toward peace means moving quickly. Preparation should take months, not years," Zelensky said.
"When a peace action plan is prepared and every step is worked out, then the path to holding the second Peace Summit -- and therefore to ending this war – will be opened," Zelensky said, adding that "we already have countries that have shown their interest in hosting the second peace summit."
The first Peace Summit with the participation of 100 delegations from 92 countries and 8 international organizations was held in the Swiss resort of Burgenstock on June 15-16.
