Some countries fail to sign Peace Summit communiqué for various reasons - Zhovkva

The signing of a final communiqué of the Peace Summit requires certain procedures in some countries, while in some other countries - representatives must first consult with their leaders.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva said this on Ukrainian television, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“Each country has different reasons (for not signing the communiqué - ed.). It requires procedures in some countries - in one country, it even requires a parliamentary approval. Some countries had representatives at such a level that they can not make such decisions," Zhovkva explained.

The deputy head of the President’s Office also noted that the Peace Summit participants should develop roadmaps and action plans for the implementation of various points of the Peace Formula.

"The phrase 'negotiations with Russia' was not used (at the Peace Summit - ed.). Some participants said that Russia should have been present at the summit," the official said.

He stressed that Russia's participation in the next Peace Summit is possible only if it stops violating the UN Charter and does not use the language of ultimatums.

As reported, in a joint communiqué published by the President’s Office, the Peace Summit participants stressed that the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine is inadmissible, the use of food security as a weapon is unacceptable, and stated that all prisoners of war must be released by complete exchange.

The document was signed by 80 countries and 4 organizations. The communique remains open for accession.
