Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and U.S. Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass discussed key areas of support for Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, Shmyhal said this in a post on Facebook.

"The support of the United States is very important for Ukraine. We discussed key areas of assistance with Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass. I thanked the United States for participating in the Global Peace Summit and for supporting the Peace Formula. We have made an important step towards a just peace on the European continent," noted Shmyhal.

The parties also discussed Ukraine's integration into NATO, the restoration of Ukraine's energy sector through USAID programs, and joint defense production.

"Particular focus was on the supply of necessary weapons, especially air defense. We are grateful to the United States for the decision to provide Ukraine with missiles for the Patriot air defense system on a priority basis," Shmyhal said.

According to the prime minister, the U.S. will provide Ukraine with $7.8 billion in direct budget support this year. This will help strengthen macro-financial stability of the country.

As reported by Ukrinform, on June 21, U.S. Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass arrived in Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian officials and other partners.
