Ukraine's ambassador expects positive changes in relations with Indonesia after new government formed
Ukrainian Ambassador to Indonesia Vasyl Hamianin has said he expects positive changes in relations with Indonesia after the country's new government is formed in October this year.
The diplomat said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
"I like the composition of a new parliament - the political parties there, which actually have an anti-communist ideology, won more votes than in the last convocation. In principle, it will be possible to talk with them about things we understand. And, of course, I have hopes for a new government and for a constructive dialogue with it, supported by the specifics and state ideology of Ukraine and Indonesia," Hamianin said.
According to the diplomat, he also hopes that Indonesia's president-elect, Prabowo Subianto, "as an experienced diplomat and a subtle connoisseur of the psychology of the collective West, will skillfully maneuver and be able to make important decisions."
"That is, I really expect very positive changes," the Ukrainian ambassador said.
Presidential and parliamentary elections were held simultaneously in Indonesia on February 14. Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto won the presidential election in the first round.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Indonesia's President-elect Prabowo Subianto on the sidelines of the annual Asia Security Summit "Shangri-La Dialogue" in Singapore.
