Zelensky congratulates Hungary on start of its EU presidency
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has congratulated Hungary on the start of its six-month presidency of the European Union.
He wrote about this on the social network X, Ukrinform reports.
"I congratulate Hungary on the beginning of its EU presidency. I wish the Hungarian presidency success in promoting our common European values, goals and interests. On the way to the EU, Ukraine is ready to join these efforts and contribute to the strengthening of our Europe," Zelensky said.
He also thanked Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo for Belgium's leadership during its "historic EU presidency."
"During this time, significant steps have been taken to strengthen the whole of Europe. Negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU, the 50-billion-dollar Ukraine Facility program, important actions on the use of frozen Russian assets, two sets of sanctions, and the Ukraine Assistance Fund under the European Peace Facility. Such bold decisions are needed in these difficult times, and the Belgian Presidency had the will to make them and strengthen the whole of Europe," the President emphasized.
As Ukrinform previously reported, on July 1, Hungary began its presidency of the European Union and took over the organization of the work of the EU Council for the next six months.
