Ambassador: Italy intends to play leading role in future reconstruction of Ukraine
Italy intends to play a leading role in the future reconstruction of Ukraine and is working to organize a conference on the restoration of Ukraine in 2025.
This is stated in the welcoming speech of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Ukraine Carlo Formosa, published on the embassy's website, Ukrinform reports.
The diplomat noted that Italy supports Ukraine on its path to joining the European Union, as well as on the path of fundamental structural reforms. In this context, he reminded that the Italian Embassy is playing a leading role this year by coordinating the G7 Ambassadors Support Group in Kyiv.
"Italy intends to play a leading role in the future reconstruction of Ukraine, and with this in mind, we are working on organizing the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine in 2025," Formosa said.
He noted that there is a strong sense of mutual sympathy and kinship between the Ukrainian and Italian peoples.
"We will multiply these achievements to further intensify relations between the two countries," the ambassador assured.
As reported by Ukrinform, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis accepted copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Ukraine Carlo Formosa.
Carlo Formosa was born in Rome on March 28, 1963. He graduated from the Guido Carli Free International University of Social Studies (LUISS) with a degree in Political Science.
He began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy in 1992 at the Directorate General for Economic Affairs, where he was responsible for Eastern Europe (including Ukraine) and Central Asia.
Prior to his appointment as head of the diplomatic mission in Ukraine, he served as Italian Ambassador to Portugal.
