UK support for Ukraine will remain ironclad - Lammy
British military, economic, political and diplomatic support for Ukraine will remain ironclad.
The new British Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, said this in an article published on the website of the UK government on Sunday, Ukrinform reports.
Lammy wrote in the article that during his upcoming meetings with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski, as well as the foreign ministers of Germany and Sweden, Annalena Baerbock and Tobias Billstrom, he would call on them to "seize the opportunity for a reset, working even more closely together to tackle shared challenges." He said Ukraine is the "most immediate" of these challenges.
"We will stand by the brave people of Ukraine, as they defend their freedom against Vladimir Putin's new form of fascism. British military, economic, political and diplomatic support for Ukraine will remain ironclad," Lammy said in the article.
At the same time, he stressed that this support is even stronger if there is cooperation with other countries. According to him, Germany, Poland and Sweden are all also staunch supporters of Ukraine.
"European security will be this government's foreign and defense priority," he wrote.
Lammy noted that Russia's barbaric invasion has made clear "the need for us to do more to strengthen our own defenses."
He announced that together with the British Prime Minister and Defense Secretary, he would participate in the NATO summit in Washington next week.
