Lavrov to chair UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will chair a meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday to consider various aspects of multilateral international cooperation.
This is reported by Ukrinform's own correspondent in New York.
Lavrov will be at the UN headquarters on July 16-17, taking advantage of Russia's presidency of the Security Council this month.
On July 17, he will chair a "ministerial meeting" of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, in particular the Palestinian issue.
The Russian minister is expected to pretend that his country is a responsible player in the international arena, blame the West for the problems created by the Putin regime, and spread disinformation and false narratives about Russia's war against Ukraine.
The last time Russia chaired the Security Council was in April 2023, when it also used this international platform to spread disinformation.
The last time Lavrov visited the UN headquarters was in January. Then, at a press conference, he lied to journalists about the "staging" of the Bucha tragedy, trying to whitewash the Russian authorities from war crimes in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
