Biden tests positive for COVID-19

The White House said in a statement U.S. President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing only mild symptoms thanks to vaccination and a booster shot.

Karine Jean-Pierre, spokeswoman for the Administration, said this on Wednesday, reports Ukrinform's own correspondent.

"Earlier today following his first event in Las Vegas, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19. He is vaccinated and boosted and he is experiencing mild symptoms," the spokeswoman said.

She also noted that the president will return to his residence in Delaware, where he will self-isolate and will continue to perform his duties fully during that time.

At the same time, the administration will provide regular updates on Biden's status.

In this regard, the White House released a report from the president's doctor, who noted that Biden is experiencing symptoms of an upper respiratory tract illness, including runny nose and non-productive cough, with general malaise.

As reported, the peak of COVID-19 diseases was recorded in several American states in the past week.
