Iran threatens Israel with “serious consequences” in case of strike on Lebanon

If Israel strikes Lebanon, it will face serious consequences.

According to Ukrinform, Iran's newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian said this in a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Reuters reports, citing local media.

"Any possible Israeli attack on Lebanon will have serious consequences for Israel," Pezeshkian was quoted by Iranian state media as saying.

As Ukrinform reported, on Saturday, 12 children were killed in a rocket attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Israel blamed Hezbollah for the attack.

On Sunday, the Lebanese government asked the United States to call on Israel to exercise restraint.

The same day, the Israeli Security Cabinet authorized the government to respond to the attack.

“Hezbollah denies any responsibility for the attack, the deadliest in Israel since the October 7 Hamas attack that sparked the Gaza war.
