Ukraine's ambassador on EU talks: First negotiation clusters expected during Polish presidency
Kyiv expects the first negotiation clusters for EU accession to open during Poland's presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2025.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar said this in comments to an Ukrinform correspondent on the sidelines of the Ukrainian-Polish Future Forum in Warsaw on Monday.
"The most important thing we expect during the Polish presidency is the start of the negotiation process and the opening of the first clusters," Bodnar said.
He emphasized the importance of bilateral coordination between Ukrainian and Polish authorities, particularly between Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Olha Stefanishyna, and Poland's Minister for European Affairs, Adam Szlapka.
Bodnar said that one online meeting between Stefanishyna and Szlapka had already taken place, with both sides working to ensure comprehensive consultations.
"The Ukrainian and Polish sides are coordinating possible areas of cooperation, the peculiarities and priorities of the Polish presidency, and how Poland sees its leadership in the EU, taking into account Ukraine's needs," the Ukrainian ambassador said.
