Trump claims Zelensky ready to negotiate to end war in Ukraine

Donald Trump, the U.S. President-elect, made a statement after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris, claiming that Zelensky is ready to negotiate and end the war in Ukraine.

Trump shared his remarks on the social media platform Truth Social, as cited by DW, Ukrinform reports.

"Zelensky and Ukraine would like to make a deal and stop the madness," Trump wrote adding that "they (the Ukrainians – ed.) have ridiculously lost 400,000 soldiers, and many more civilians."

Trump emphasized that "there should be an immediate ceasefire and negotiations should begin." He argued that "too many lives are being so needlessly wasted, too many families destroyed, and if it keeps going, it can turn into something much bigger, and far worse." He further remarked: "I know Vladimir well. This is his time to act. China can help. The World is waiting!"
