MEP calling on U.S., Germany to prevent Russian warships from passing into Black Sea
The United States and Germany, as the leading Western powers, need to appeal to Turkey to not allow Russian naval vessels previously stationed in Syria to get to the Black Sea.
Member of the European Parliament Jaak Madison (Estonia) stated this in a comment to Guildhall, Ukrinform reports.
"They should put pressure on Turks with the message that, if you are doing that, we will do this or that. So the Turks have to understand that it's a very black-and-white situation. You’re either on the good side or on the side of evil," said the lawmaker.
The MEP also suggested Russia could use civilian vessels to smuggle weapons into the Black Sea.
As reported earlier, Russia is withdrawing troops from Syria after the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime. Russian naval bases were located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Their airbase was located in the city of Khmeimim, where the main headquarters of the Russian contingent was deployed.
