Finland’s President believes pressure on Putin must be maximized

Finland is ready for concrete action in the event of a ceasefire in Ukraine, but it is too early to talk about putting troops on the ground.

This was stated by Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Ukrinform reports with reference to Yle.

He also expressed the opinion that Putin does not really want a ceasefire or peace.

In an interview with the BBC, Stubb noted that the Russian president’s goal remains to destroy Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.

“He hasn’t changed his aim, and this what all of us around the table have to understand. And that is why we have to maximize the pressure on Putin,” the Finnish President is convinced.

He specified that the pressure could be increased by introducing new sanctions, using frozen Russian assets and militarizing Ukraine “to the teeth”.

As reported, after a meeting of the “Coalition of the willing” in support of Ukraine set up by the UK, Stubb said Russia is delaying the ceasefire process, not actually being willing to achieve a ceasefire or peace.
