Border guards seize ancient books on border with Crimea
Ukrainian border guards have seized on the administrative border with Crimea two books on "History of Peter the Great" of the 19th century, which a car passenger tried to bring into the occupied peninsula, according to the Ukrainian State Border Service.
"When inspecting a Skoda Octavia car at the Chonhar among checkpoint, border guards of the Berdiansk detachment and representatives of the fiscal service found in the personal belongings of a car passenger two books on 'History of Peter the Great,' published in 1882. A 29-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Donetsk region, tried to smuggle into the occupied peninsular the old books that may constitute historical or cultural value," the service reported.
According to the report, the books were seized for examination.
