Ukraine remains most misrepresented country in pro-Kremlin media – EUvsDisinfo

Ukraine appeared in 461 out of 1,000 disinformation cases in Russian mass media in the course of 2018.

EU vs Disinformation wrote this in the 2018 report, which was posted on its website.

“Pro-Kremlin disinformation about Ukraine targets audiences in Russia, in Ukraine and in third countries, including the West. Domestic audiences in Russia are e.g. faced with narratives which dehumanise Ukrainians and show the authorities in Kyiv as a cynical modern heir to 20th century Nazism,” reads the report.

It is stressed that pro-Kremlin media “try to present Ukraine as the guilty party in the ongoing conflict with Russia,” as well as “to sow doubt about Russia’s role in the downing of Flight MH17”. Also, other reports aim at “showing Ukraine’s Euromaidan revolution and the changes it brought about in Ukrainian society as a failure”.

“Almost five years into the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Kremlin’s use of the information weapon against Ukraine has not decreased; Ukraine still stands out as the most misrepresented country in pro-Kremlin media,” reads the report.
