Nearly 27,000 Hasidic pilgrims arrive in Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah
Nearly 27,000 Hasidic pilgrims, including 2,240 children and 11 women, have arrived in Uman, Cherkasy region, to celebrate the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, Uman City Council's press service has reported on Facebook.
"Some 26,862 Breslov Hasidic Jews, including 2,240 children and 11 women, from eight countries arrived in Uman as of September 30, 2019," the report said.
The city council said that pilgrims had arrived in Ukraine by 897 vehicles, including by 303 buses, 571 minivans and 23 cars.
Breslov Hasidim traditionally come to Uman in the fall to celebrate the New Year's Eve at the Tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.
This year, Rosh Hashanah is marked from September 29 to October 1.
