In Paris, Ukrainian veterans of the war with Russia urge to prevent the surrender of Ukrainian interests within the Normandy format.

The activists held the rally among the international pool of journalists, who are currently gathering near the Élysée Palace, where the Normandy Four summit will take place, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have come here to express concern because we sense danger concerning what will happen during the Normandy Four talks. We want to inform the world about the position of Ukrainians which has a few very simple points," said former Azov regiment commander Maksym Zhorin.

It is unacceptable to create the so-called "people's police" in the occupied territories, to hold elections amid the absence of control over the border, he said. "All this is critical for Ukraine," the veteran added.

He informed that the rally participants, who are veterans of the Armed Forces and the National Guard, came from Ukraine to Paris specifically on the day of the summit because the situation really looked threatening.

The leaders of the Normandy Four countries – Ukraine, France, Germany and the Russian Federation – will meet in Paris today, on December 9.
