Subways in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro close today
The subways in the largest Ukrainian cities – Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro – close on March 17 to counteract the possible spread of coronavirus in Ukraine.
"The subways stop to work from March 17. The city mayors agreed on individual schedules. Kyiv subway will stop to operate today at 23:00, Dnipro subway – at 15:00, Kharkiv subway – at 20:00," Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii said at a briefing on March 17, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He added that those measures were aimed at reducing the mobility of the population to counteract the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine.
Following the order of the President of Ukraine and the decision of the State Commission on Technological and Environmental Safety and Emergencies, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to restrict passenger traffic in the territory of Ukraine in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
In particular, the transportation of passengers by subway in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro is suspended from March 17 to April 3.
