Zelensky pledges $1 mln for Covid-19 vaccine - Liashko

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to pay $1 million to Ukrainian scientists who develop the vaccine for Covid-19, Deputy Health Minister Viktor Liashko has said in an interview with LB.

"I will reveal a secret to you. The president asked me to write letters to our academics and promised that if someone invents a vaccine or medicine, they will receive, I don't know from what fund, at least one million U.S. dollars," Liashko said.

A total of 3,102 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Ukraine as of April 13. Nine-three people died of the disease, and 97 patients recovered.

There is currently no vaccine for coronavirus. According to some estimates, it may only appear in September.
