Quality of education of foreign students influence image of Ukraine – PM

The quality of education of foreign students in Ukraine makes an impact on the country’s image in the world, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said.

He said this during a meeting on the launch of the Unified Interdepartmental Electronic Platform for Foreign Students on December 29, the Government portal reported.

“The creation of an electronic platform for the admission of foreign students should remove the human factor, intermediaries in the educational process and other factors that can cause corruption. After all, the quality of education received by foreign students primarily improves the image of Ukraine,” Shmyhal said.

According to the prime minister, the introduction of the e-platform should be accelerated with an aim to increase the efficiency of promoting the export of Ukrainian educational services, ensure transparency and accessibility of education for foreign students, of whom there are almost 80,000 in Ukraine today.

The result of the creation of the e-platform should be a simple design and quality education of foreign students, as well as an increase in their number.

During the meeting, Shmyhal supported the proposal to introduce an independent exam for foreign students, which will help increase competitiveness and eliminate corruption in the educational process.

Following the meeting, the PM instructed the Ministry of Digital Transformation to ensure the development and implementation of a unified interagency electronic platform regarding the procedure for enrolling foreigners and stateless persons in higher education institutions in Ukraine.
