Ukraine expects new batches of COVID-19 vaccines in April
The deliveries of COVID-19 vaccines and the number of vaccinated people will grow in Ukraine this month; in particular, first supplies under the COVAX Facility are expected in the middle of April.
These issues were discussed at a special meeting dedicated to the fight against COVID-19, which took place under the chairmanship of President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the website of the President's Office.
"The Ministry of Health reported that the first deliveries under the COVAX Facility are expected in the middle of the current month. A new batch of the Chinese drug Sinovac is also expected," reads the report.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the growth rate of coronavirus patients had slowed down. In particular, the situation in Ivano-Frankivsk region has improved – the number of hospital discharges exceeds the number of hospitalizations.
"This means that with such dynamics, the region may be soon transferred to the orange zone," said the Prime Minister.
In addition, the Ministry of Health is developing an updated vaccination plan to implement the decision of the National Security and Defense Council.
As reported, on April 4, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of April 2, 2021 "On the national vaccination plan for preventing the acute respiratory disease COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 until the end of 2021”.
