Ukraine plans to further expand COVID-19 vaccination campaign

There is a positive trend in the incidence of COVID-19 in Ukraine as all indicators are stabilizing and the rate of COVID-19 vaccination of the population is increasing.

This was discussed at a conference call at the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service.

 “According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, all regions of Ukraine are currently in the ‘yellow’ zone. There are 11,294 beds occupied today, which is almost 32% less than last week. The number of active patients decreased by almost 38% during the week – now 81,927 people are ill. There is also a decrease in the number of hospitalized people and deaths,” reads the statement.

As noted, the rate of COVID-19 vaccination of the population is increasing. A total of 240,543 people were vaccinated during the week. A total of 1,388,124 vaccinations against COVID-19 have been carried out in Ukraine. The first dose was received by 1,241,006 people, 147,118 completed the vaccination.

“For the second weekend in a row, mass vaccination centers have been working, this time in 10 cities of Ukraine. Almost 65,000 people were vaccinated over the weekend at vaccination centers. We plan to further expand the vaccination campaign, so I urge local authorities to promote the opening of such facilities in the regions,” Shmyhal said.
