Ukraine expects to receive 7.7M doses of vaccine in July – chief state sanitary doctor

About 7.7 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine are expected to be delivered to Ukraine in July, according to Deputy Minister of Health - Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin.

He said this during a panel discussion "Why Ukrainians Don't Want to Get Vaccinated: Let's Talk to Officials and Doctors" on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"In total, about 7.7 million doses of vaccine are planned to be delivered to the country in July," Kuzin said.

He noted that the CoronaVac vaccine produced by Chinese company Sinovac Biotech is to arrive next month under the contract. “As for Sinovac, we have signed commitments and it is planned that 5.325 million doses of the vaccine will be purchased by Crown Agents,” Kuzin commented.

He stressed that due to the high expected supply of vaccines in July, negotiations are underway to postpone the supply of CoronaVac under a new contract.

In addition, the deputy minister said that Ukraine is negotiating the purchase of vaccines with Johnson & Johnson.

As reported, over the past day, 53,786 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in Ukraine. In particular, 22,526 people got their first jab, and 31,260 people were fully vaccinated.
