Health Ministry plans to vaccinate half of Ukrainians against COVID-19 this year
The Ukrainian Health Ministry hopes that half of Ukrainians will get vaccinated against coronavirus by the end of 2021, Deputy Minister of Health, Ukraine's Chief State Sanitary Doctor Ihor Kuzin has said.
"We would very much like to vaccinate 50% of Ukrainians by the end of the year. And the infrastructure that has been created will be used both in autumn and winter," Kuzin said in an interview with Ukrinform.
He noted that by the end of the summer it is necessary to administer at least ten million doses of COVID-19 vaccines and then it will be possible to talk about the conditional protection of five million Ukrainians.
"The total number of daily vaccinations in the country has been steadily growing over the past two months. There were sometimes organizational problems, problems with the e-health system, and sometimes problems with the delivery of vaccines. Now the system is stable and we see an increase in the number of jabs," Kuzin said.
As many as 51,068 Ukrainians received COVID-19 shots on Sunday, August 15.
