National Commission for UNESCO, Association of Ukrainian Cities sign memorandum of cooperation

The National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO and the Association of Ukrainian Cities have signed a memorandum of cooperation, according to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

“On September 13, Chairperson of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Emine Dzheppar and Executive Director of the Association of Ukrainian Cities Oleksandr Slobozhan signed a memorandum of cooperation,” reads the report.

At the joint meeting, Emine Dzheppar informed about the process of reforming the commission. The parties also discussed areas of future cooperation, in particular, confirmed intention to organize and implement joint activities under the auspices of the national commission.

Emine Dzheppar also assured she is willing to promote the cultural, educational, scientific, environmental and other achievements of Ukrainian cities in the world.

"Synergy between the National Commission and the Association of Ukrainian Cities should significantly increase the effectiveness of involving Ukrainian cities in UNESCO projects, increase the interest and awareness of cities in UNESCO's activities, prospects and opportunities it opens," she said.

As Ukrinform reported, in March, the Association of Ukrainian Cities with the support of U-LEAD with Europe Programme launched the initiative “Promoting comprehensive development of territorial communities through analytics, dialogue and cooperation”.
