Klitschko: 300,000 foreigners have visited Kyiv this year

Since the beginning of the year, the capital's budget has received UAH 22 million in tourist tax payments.

“To date, about 300,000 foreigners have visited the capital. Tourism is one of the important areas of our ancient and beautiful city. Kyiv is also attractive because prices here are much lower than in other countries. However, for example, one family of tourists from the Middle East, many of whom now come to Ukraine, leaves in Kyiv from 300 to 500 U.S. dollars a day. This includes hotel accommodation, visits to restaurants and cafes, concerts. Since the beginning of the year, the budget of our city has received more than UAH 22 million in tourist tax payments,” Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said on the air of Priamyi TV channel, Ukrinform reports with reference to the official portal of Kyiv.

According to him, citizens of the Middle East countries now account for a fifth of the total number of tourists. Most tourists come from the United States (26,500 people since the beginning of the year), Israel (over 22,000), and Turkey (more than 21,000).

In addition, more than 13,000 tourists from Saudi Arabia have arrived this year due to the launch of direct flights and the introduction of the visa-free regime. In addition, most European countries remain closed to tourists from this country.

As reported, in June, Flynas launched a direct flight between Kyiv and the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. In total, the opening of five routes between the two countries was announced.
