In Kyiv city, more than 1.6 million people have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine so far, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

"The key component of avoiding lockdown is mass vaccination. Kyiv is currently the leader in terms of vaccination rate in the country. Currently more than 1.6 million people have been vaccinated, of whom more than 800,000 have received two shots," Klitschko said on the Freedom of Speech program on the ICTV channel on Monday, Ukrinform reports.

According to Klitschko, there are enough vaccines in Kyiv. In particular, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, CoronaVac vaccines are available.

"Currently, 98% of people hospitalized [with COVID-19] were not vaccinated. Therefore, I call on everyone once again to get vaccinated. This is one of the precautions against coronavirus," Klitschko said.

At the same time, the mayor stressed that Kyiv city is prepared for a possible new wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
