Ukraine to destroy 34,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine - Liashko

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine will destroy 34,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine due to inappropriate storage conditions.

According to Ukrinform, Minister of Health Viktor Liashko said this at a meeting with journalists on Wednesday, September 29.

"There were reports that the cold chain was broken during transportation. We took this [Pfizer] vaccine and started an investigation. It is stored in a warehouse. We did not have clear evidence that the temperature regime was really broken. That is why it is stored in a warehouse. Litigation is ongoing between the supplier and the logistics company. We cannot use the vaccine in which the temperature regime has been broken," Liashko said.

He specified that the issue concerned 34,036 doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

Commenting on AstraZeneca vaccines expiring in October, Liashko said that some 1,700 doses would be used on September 30.
