Zelensky would gain almost 25% votes in presidential election, poll shows
Incumbent President Volodymyr Zelensky would see the support of 24.7% of Ukrainian respondents if the presidential election took place next Sunday.
This is evidenced by a survey run by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology on October 15-18, Ukrinform reports.
If the first round of the presidential election, if held next Sunday, Zelensky would receive 19.1% among all respondents and 24.7% among those who are going to vote and have made their choice.
The runner-up is former President Petro Poroshenko, who would be supported by 12.1% of all respondents and 15.6% of those who have made their choice.
Third comes leader of the Batkivshchyna (Motherland) Party, Yulia Tymoshenko, with 9.4% and 12.2%, respectively. She is followed by Co-chairman of the OPZZh parliamentary faction Yuriy Boyko (7.3% and 9.4%), leader of the Syla I Chest (Power and Dignity) Party Ihor Smeshko (6% and 7.8%), and former chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Razumkov (5.5% and 7.1%).
Other candidates have lower support rates.
At the same time, in September, 25.4% of all respondents and 33.3% of those who have made their choice said they would vote for Volodymyr Zelensky.
Last month, 12.8% of all respondents and 16.8% of those who have made their choice would cast ballots for Petro Poroshenko. At that time, Yulia Tymoshenko was supported by 7.8% and 10.3% respectively, Yuriy Boyko – by 7.2% and 9.5%, and Ihor Smeshko – by 6.6% and 8.7%.
The survey was conducted through computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) based on a random sample of cell phone numbers. It covered 1,200 respondents from across Ukraine (except the Autonomous Republic of Crimea) aged 18 and older.
In Luhansk and Donetsk regions, the survey was run exclusively in government-controlled areas.
The statistical error margin is within 3.2% for indicators close to 50%, 2.7% for indicators close to 25%, 2.1% – for indicators close to 12%, and 1.4% – for indicators close to 5%.
