Ministry for Communities Development planning to spend UAH 5M on barrier-free measures

The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine intends to spend UAH 5 million on the measures aimed at implementing the National Strategy for the Barrier-Free Environment.

"In order to fulfill the tasks set for the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, under the Action Plan [Barrier-Free Environment Strategy], the funding for 2021 is projected by the Ministry at the level of about UAH 5 million," the ministry told Ukrinform.

As reported, on April 14, the government approved the National Strategy for the Barrier-Free Environment and established a Council to control and monitor the implementation of this strategy.

The national strategy, initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska, is aimed at creating conditions for equal access to public spaces for citizens with temporarily or permanently limited mobility, people with disabilities etc.

On July 14, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a large-scale action plan for 2021-2022 to implement the National Strategy for Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine.
