Health Ministry: Red zone won’t be declared to encourage vaccinations

A red zone of epidemic danger is declared exclusively on the basis of epidemic indicators of COVID-19 rate and is not used to encourage vaccinations.

“The declaration of a red zone is regulated exclusively by the requirements and clauses of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 1236, and it is declared only based on epidemic indicators. A red zone will not be declared to encourage people to get vaccinated, and such an issue will not be considered,” Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin said at a press conference.

As of October 25, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, and Kherson regions are in the red zone of epidemic danger. The level of hospitalizations, set at 60 per 100,000 people, is 88.1 per 100,000 people as of October 24 and is exceeded in Kyiv city and 18 regions. The oxygen-supplied bed occupancy rate is exceeded in 11 regions.
