Ukraine will get almost 19M doses of COVID-19 vaccine this year - Shmyhal

Ukraine will receive almost 19 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the year, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, he said this at a government meeting on Thursday, October 28.

"This week we started vaccinating about 250,000 per day. There are nine million doses of vaccines in vaccination points, and we will receive almost 19 million more [doses] by the end of this year. Our goal remains the same – vaccinating more than half of the adult population by the end of the year," Shmyhal said.

At present, according to him, more than 30% of the adult population has been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease with at least one dose of a COVID-19, but the situation with COVID-19 vaccination rates is different in different regions.

"I want to emphasize that this is the responsibility of local leaders who must go out and convince their community of the need to get vaccinated," he said.

Shmyhal recalled that most regions in Ukraine would be in the red zone of COVID-19 restrictions on October 30.
