First Ladies of Ukraine, Israel plan joint event on barrier-free access
Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska discussed with her Israeli counterpart, Michal Herzog, issues of inclusive education, gender equality, and barrier-free society, as well as scheduled a joint event.
The First Lady of Ukraine wrote about the talks on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"A series of bilateral events with the first ladies around the world continues. I had the opportunity to talk to the Israel President’s spouse, Michal Herzog. She participated in the Kyiv Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen where she addressed the participants in an inspiring video. I’m glad that our communication continues, while the ‘soft power’ platform only contributes to this," Zelenska said.
Olena Zelenska said Michal Herzog became First Lady of Israel four months ago and chose to focus her efforts on mental health issues of certain population groups, as well as the issue of national unity.
During their latest conversation, the First ladies of Ukraine and Israel exchanged experiences and discussed the implementation of the right to education of people with special educational needs. According to Olena Zelenska, the two agreed that Israel share with Ukraine the available information and experience on its inclusive education system. The first ladies also discussed gender equality and a barrier-free society.
"We have planned a joint event to exchange best practices in the field of building barrier-free space and life," said Olena Zelenska.
The President's spouse has recalled that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Israel, a progressive country, known for its conceptual views on various processes.
"We have something to be proud of: a lot has already been done, but there is still a lot to do. I am convinced that cooperation and unity will have practical significance and yield results for both parties," Olena Zelenska added.
