Sean Penn arrives in Kyiv to shoot documentary
Hollywood actor and producer Sean Penn has arrived in Ukraine for the first time.
As Ukrinform reports, Penn came to Kyiv to shoot a documentary about Ukraine. He was spotted on Instytutska Street. The actor was doing interviews at the site of murder of the Heavenly Hundred [EuroMaidan protesters], TSN reports.
As noted, the shooting is secret and the crew is banned from disclosing any details. The heroes of his interview are asked to maintain confidentiality.
Penn has already spent several days in Kyiv. On Monday, he recorded an interview with Leonid Ostaltsev, veteran business owner. Ostaltsev opened a pizzeria after he returned from the war and thought about how to live on. He knew how to make pizza, so got down to this business. Now it is not just a successful restaurant, but a whole direction: several veteran institutions work within one franchise. "Now I have a new friend," Ostaltsev wrote on Instagram after talking to Sean Penn.
Apart from Kyiv, Penn plans to visit the war zone on the front line in the next few days. It is reported that the actor is going to visit Mariupol.
Sean Penn won two Academy Awards for Best Actor for Mystic River (2003) and Milk (2008), Golden Globe and Cannes Film Festival awards. Over the past twenty years, he has been volunteering and making documentaries in poor countries.
