Number of new COVID-19 cases declining in Ukraine

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Ukraine has declined over the past weeks.

This issue was discussed at a conference call dedicated to counteracting the spread of COVID-19, which was chaired by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Ukrinform reports with a reference to the Government portal.

According to data provided by the Ministry of Health, Ukraine has been recording a decrease in the number of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.

In particular, Health Minister Viktor Liashko said that 24,419 people were hospitalized last week compared with about 32,000 hospitalizations per seven days during the previous weeks. Moreover, for the first time in the last 14 weeks, the number of deaths related to COVID-19 decreased compared to the previous week.

Liashko also noted that Ukraine has been recording high vaccination rates four weeks in a row. Last week, 1,718,000 people were vaccinated.

In addition, Shmyhal raised the issue of providing the regions with the necessary amount of medicines to treat COVID-19. "We should study in detail the situation in each institution and redistribute medicines where necessary," the prime minister stressed.

As reported, Ukraine recorded 7,464 new COVID-19 cases on November 21.
